PotC fen get together?
So as the movie draws closer was wondering if anyone wants to have a fen showing of PotC (Pirates of the Caribbean). I know some of you will probably watch the first midnight showing--sadly I can't but I could do any time Sunday (& maybe for some if you were interested that'd be re-watching the pretty--such a hardship ;-). So anyone for the 9th, with either lunch/dinner before/after? I'm leaving location/theater open cause I'm willing to travel (if I can get there by Bart, short walk) I have a SUV, with very bad mileage so if I can skip/eliminate driving...

Anyone interested?

Will cross-post invite to various supported fen groups

Who the hell? More on the get together...
I know I haven't met anyone here yet, but would love to...Still in Lotrips, though SGA has become my newest obsession. So if you'd like to share the lotrips & the slashiness of other fandoms... that'd be very kool. You can check out my lj with pics of me in my scrapbook... Btw, if time wise this doesn't work for people just wanted to say I'm very open for a get together at another time...

Again last minute because it was an unexpected opportunity. I actually have the place for the entire weekend. I thought Saturday might be more flexible for people since Sunday was Father's Day----BUT if Sunday works better... its not a problem. Basically I have no plans just hanging out anyways & doing laundry/cleaning if I stayed home (fun is) so instead I'll spend the weekend there, bring my laptop, DVDs & take in some R&R. And let me just say their place is... well its easy to feel like its more of a resort.

Pool, not huge is in the sun, but spa is shaded.

So Saturday any time. Just write me directions. Advanced notice would be nice if you need me to pick you up from Bart. If you don’t know, but it’s a maybe write me for my cell # and if you can come call for directions.

Sunday same as above, but there is a time limit until 6-7ish pm

As for food/drinks, there's a lot already there. Though if we needed a trip to the grocery store (which is very easy to do) then just split the cost.

Any questions please just ask….

OK off to work

There will be a RPS panel on Friday--but they also have DYT (do your thing) times, so if anyone goes we can definetly set up our own panel for lotrips fun. I'm leaving straight from work on Thursday, so either email before hand, so you'll give you my cell # that we can hook up, or just leave a message at the desk (I'm registered under Deana Smith) Btw, evesharmony will be flying in, she writes some lovely Orli/Bean fics. Hope to see you there--if not maybe we can talk about getting together to slash chat some Sunday afternoon. I still love reading/writing about the guys--anyone else?

October 1st
We're having a craft boutique/yard sale/Fall meet-and-greet tomorrow, in San Jose. This is being advertized as a Pagan Pride Harvest Celebration through Full Circle Events, a local-based non-profit organization which hosts, promotes, and organizes events for the Earthwise community. There will be lots of lovely things to buy, goodies and punch to snack and sip, and fun people to meet.

This will be tomorrow (October 1st) and the time is from 10 am to 3 pm. Check out the full listing through the link above - it's the very first event on the list, highlighted in yellow. More information and directions are included.

If you have any questions, feel free to respond to this post, and I'll get back to you!

waves :-)

Joined a while back, sadly still haven't the chance to really meet anyone--though my work schedule does make it difficult. Anyhoo, thought I'd pipe up in case anyone would be interested in maybe planning something in the near future especially with the warmer weather finally on the horizon. Besides slash writing/reading lotrips, I also love bookstores, antiquing, fairs, shopping, and just exploring/walking around chatting stopping for some coffee/lunch whatever…

Now here’s a whacked thought. I was wondering if anyone would be interested a barter---Thing is I'm struggling learning my way around LJ, icons, wallpapers, etc. Reading the books ---well I rarely make it pass a page or two at a time. Yet just playing trying to figure things out, learn the language drives me crazy & takes hours leaving me a nice headache.

So what do I have to barter with---me? I’m a housekeeper, cleaning houses for a living & would be willing to do some general cleaning in exchange for private tutoring lessons. If that doesn't sound too off base or crazy, lmk & we could talk.

I work 6 days a week, but could offer Saturday afternoons, possibly Mondays, but either day with advance notice—and I’m thinking for May/June. July I’m going away on vacation.

Anyhoo it’s just a thought.

Hope everyone is healthy & happy

Berkeley slasha-moot on Sunday
We plan to meet at Bacheeso's (Dwight and San Pablo) around 1:00 on Sunday the 2nd.

Plans are to eat there (they have a reasonably-priced buffet) and wander over to the Good Vibrations store just down the block. If we're still hanging out when Bacheeso's closes, we can stop in Caffe Trieste, which stays open late.

Please reply if you plan to come!

Sean Astin, live, tomorrow
Tomorrow morning, around 10 am Pacific Standard Time, (GMT -8), Sean Astin will be on my local radio variety show, West Coast Live. It's in SF, at the Plush Room, and broadcast on KALW (91.7, Central Bay Area only). They stream it live on the internet at www.wcl.org, and archive the shows there, so people elsewhere will get a chance to listen. It's a great show, always full of unusual music, performances, interesting and funny discussions.

After that, he'll be speaking and signing at 2 pm at the Book Passage in Corte Madera. I called the events person, she said it will be crowded, but she's not going to put out the chairs for the audience until 12 noon, at which point it will be first-come-first-served. (Yes, I'm bringing the iBook and the ROTK EE DVDs). See ya there!

Weeeeee, thank you msilverstar for telling about the group. How exciting ;-) so many lorips fans in my neighborhood :-)

First off I'd like to say HI *waves* Here’s a little intro---I'm still relatively new to lorips, but I've been in fandom/slash for about 5 years. I discovered both salsh/fanfiction while browsing the web looking for Xena dolls. I started reading slash in Xena, BSG, and Highlander; before moving into XFiles. I still read in several fandoms including my other new addiction HP with Lost becoming a close second. I mainly write in BtVS/AtS, OaT, FL, XF, and now Lotrips. I discovered became addicted to lotrips back in April---Addicted is an understatement. I'm primarily in love with hobbits/elf fic with my muse focused on EW/DM/OB & then add Colin Farrell another obsession. I have only one lotrips fic under my belt, & am working on my second an AU werewolf fic with my same fav four. I've also been to BAScon for the last 3 years (a slash convention) bascon & had the pleasure of going to writercon their first year, a writers convention with a focus on Joss Whedon shows.

That said I'm in Concord. I work 6 days a week, but have Sundays off with some afternoons, and evenings. Would love to meet & gush with any slasher/writer especially on lotrips ;-) OK, l should go write---look forward to the happenings on this list & possible meets :-)

Sean Astin, 11 December, MARIN not SF!
The TORN post is wrong, the 2 pm Saturday Dec. 11 book signing is at the Book Passage in Corte Madera (Marin), not San Francisco.

I have made sure my family Hanukkah party is on Sunday so am still planning to go for a bit of a line party. I can give rides to five people from the East Bay, just let me know. Weekend transit to Marin is fairly awful. Let me know ASAP if you need a ride.

Sean Astin here in November
Sean Astin's doing a book tour, apparently he gives a talk as well as signing There and Back Again. According to SAnet, he'll be at A Clean Well-Lighted Place for Books in SF on Friday, November 19 at 7 pm and Book Passage in Corte Madera on Saturday November 20 at 2 pm. (Isn't it sweet, he's at independent bookstores).

It would be fun to hear Sean, he could say something new and different. But I see this mainly as an opportunity for a line party, a chance to see lotrippers, and hang out with other fans. Anyone else want to join me?

Either day works for me. The SF store is near Civic Center BART station; otherwise I could give rides to Marin from BART to at least five people.

Please leave a comment here if you're interested or email me - msilverstar at livejournal.

anyone going to comic con?
I am tempted to go to Comic-Con in San Diego, apparently both Billy and Dom will be there, probably Friday and Saturday, respectively.

It takes 10 hours to get from the Bay Area to San Diego, if one includes food and pitstops, more if the traffic's bad. I have a nice minivan that seats seven (friendly) people. It gets about 25 - 30 MPG on the freeway. If other people I like want to come along, we could have fun and share driving and expenses. One possibility is driving at night: less traffic and save the cost of hotel rooms. I never sleep well at these things anyway.

However, I might have to take my kid, as Mr. M. is not currently prepared for this. Though they have child care on site... If so, I have to get her back and rested by Sunday the 25th at 2 pm.

If you're interested, please comment here or email me at msilverstar at livejournal dot com with your lj name.

Saturday night slashfest?
I have unexpected childcare on Saturday night and I want to get out of the house! Anyone want to to go out?

Dinner (could be cheap Chinese) would be good. Drinks are good too :-)

I have the ROTK DVD and would love to watch it together, but not before 9 pm at my house (kidlet issues).

Maybe a movie -- there's some good stuff playing in Berkeley. Triplets of Belleville looks fun, and I still haven't seen Eternal Sunshine. Troy again would be fine. I'm not very fond of action/horror/disaster movies, but if someone promises to hold my hand, I could probably handle Van Helsing or the Day After Tomorrow.

Let me know, comment or email msilverstar at livejournal dot com.

Orli and Sean in short skirts! Also other pretty men, biremes, triremes, battles and melodrama. I so want to go with slashers!
